Speech Language Pathologist Opportunity in Queens, NY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to provide high-quality speech and language services to students in a school setting near Queens, NY.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech and language disorders, assess students' speech, language, and communication abilities, and determine appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with identified speech and language needs, collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to set and achieve educational goals.
  • Therapeutic Services: Provide direct speech and language therapy to students, including individual and group sessions, tailoring therapy plans to address each student's unique needs and tracking progress regularly.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to support students' communication needs in various educational settings, offering strategies and support to help students improve their participation and performance in the classroom.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and evaluations, preparing reports for parents, teachers, and school administrators as needed.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and educational strategies, participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certification: Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in New York, Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting is highly desirable, with experience with a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, and language development.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to pass background checks and meet any other state or school district requirements.
