Purpose

The CRNA provides anesthesia care to patients of all types in collaboration with the supervising physician and adheres to the standards set by the Department of Anesthesiology. This role involves administering anesthesia to render patients insensible to pain during surgery, monitoring their physical response to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents, and promptly informing the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety or care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accountability for controlled substances according to department and hospital policies, as well as state and federal guidelines.
  • Administer anesthesia and related care across four key categories: pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation; anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence; post-anesthesia care; and peri-anesthesia clinical support functions.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs within the clinical setting.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Ensure appropriate documentation for informed consent and accurately identify the surgical site with other team members.
