The Caribe Royale is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician IV / Auto Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, and other routine work in and around the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, and pool heaters, ensuring all methods, materials, and practices meet company standards and local and national codes.
- Repair hotel guest rooms as assigned under the Preventative Maintenance program.
- Report broken or misused equipment to the Engineering Manager or Director.
- Ensure that all safety systems are operable.
- Follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist in the maintenance of a working inventory of parts needed for the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a hotel or directly related industry.
- Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical, is required.
- Knowledge of hotel fire standards and procedures.
- Able to work independently and exercise judgment to resolve personnel and production issues that arise, with minimal supervision.
- Perform rigorous tasks including working from ladders, under equipment, and handling awkward materials or apparatus required for tasks assigned.
- This position will require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Education and Skills
- High school diploma: experience in a large hotel environment preferred.
- Valid certification (e.g. ASE) is a plus.
- Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and use of equipment/machinery.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.
- Able to perform multiple tasks.
This is a summary of the main responsibilities for this position. Business demands dictate work hours and schedules. Attendance and timeliness are a requirement of this position. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time, to meet our guests' needs. I understand that I must also adhere to the property service standards, as well as grooming and uniform standards specific to this position, always maintaining a neat and clean appearance. I will also adhere to any OSHA (safety) practices and wear any assigned PPE (personal protective equipment) as needed.
