SUMMARY
The Sales Associate plays a vital role in promoting sales and delivering exceptional customer service to our visitors. This position ensures that the retail space is well-organized and visually appealing.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Delivers outstanding customer service by being well-informed about all merchandise and store policies.
- Maintains and develops knowledge of the artists and their works featured in the store.
- Informs customers about programs, activities, and products available throughout the organization.
- Facilitates transactions by proficiently operating the cash register.
- Prepares daily financial deposits by compiling register pulls and sales reports.
- Restocks inventory by monitoring sales and retrieving stock from storage for display.
- Handles valuable and delicate items with care and precision.
- Communicates any issues, customer complaints, or concerns to management as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant retail or sales experience is required.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
- Possesses sufficient knowledge of art to recommend merchandise related to exhibitions.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; capable of writing basic correspondence.
- Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and colleagues.
- Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Familiarity with TAM database software and the ability to perform sales, inventory, and order processing functions on the point-of-service system.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands of this position require the employee to effectively perform essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The employee is regularly required to communicate, stand, walk, and use hands for sales transactions and item handling. Occasionally, the employee may need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in this environment is generally moderate, typical of an indoor retail operation.
