Job Summary

Hillsborough County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Librarian to lead and manage our library teams. As a key member of our Public Services Division, Support Services Division, or Brand Innovation Section, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our libraries, supervising staff, and providing exceptional customer service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and provide assistance in the supervision and operation of a library agency or function.
  • Act as custodian of all agency monies.
  • Provide reference and reader's advisory services, instructing and assisting customers in accessing library information.
  • Manage the operations of an agency or function, including planning, promoting, and presenting programming.
  • Serve on or lead library committees and task forces as directed.
  • Execute performance management duties, including training, coaching, documenting, and evaluating performance of subordinate staff.
  • Represent the Library in relation to city, community, and government agencies, and at local and state level.
  • Actively seek and participate in professional development opportunities, staying abreast of emerging technology and trends in the Library Information Science Field.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience as a Librarian, including supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills (speaking and writing proficiency in English and Spanish).
  • Experience in public libraries, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, stand, bend, kneel, sit, stoop, crouch, balance, and walk for extended periods of time. Sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time is also required.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $46,092 - $59,925 per year, depending on experience. Hillsborough County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
