Catholic Charities of Baltimore is looking for a Behavioral Support Supervisor to oversee crisis prevention and intervention services. This role involves collaborating with and supervising the Behavioral Specialist team to ensure that skilled personnel are available to prevent and address crisis situations using the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model. The work schedule consists of hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Upholds the rights of children and families by recognizing the dignity of each individual, promoting their involvement in problem-solving and decision-making, and safeguarding the confidentiality of all client information. Ensures a safe care environment by adhering to therapeutic standards, risk management policies, and procedures for maintaining client safety. Contributes to performance enhancement at the individual, departmental, and organizational levels. Understands and implements policies and procedures related to infection control. Effectively utilizes knowledge of treatment methods suitable for the physical and developmental stages of clients served. Participates in all mandatory training and in-service programs. [CPR, TCI, Emergency Procedures, Infection Control, etc.] Will become a Certified TCI Instructor and participate in the training rotation for the Division. Efficiently supervises, assesses, and inspires staff. Interacts tactfully and effectively with individuals both within and outside the department. Employs effective verbal and written communication skills. Performs additional duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health or a related field with five years of experience working with emotionally disturbed children. Previous experience as a Behavioral Specialist is preferred. TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) Certification is preferred. Physical capability to intervene and restrain children in crisis situations, including the ability to run, lift, and transport children as necessary. Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and hold a valid driver's license issued by their state of residence. There should be no state-issued restrictions on the license that would hinder the ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and the driving record must not exceed three (3) points.SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Strong supervisory skills, including staff management, motivation, scheduling, staff development, competency evaluation, and budget administration. Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques and the ability to apply effective discipline and behavior management strategies. Must demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to severely emotionally disabled children in a sensitive and understanding manner. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Must be capable of accurately assessing and documenting information in various records. Requires good listening skills for interactions with staff and clients, often in high-stress situations. Familiarity with policies and procedures related to the Behavioral Specialist role and crisis interventions.
