Medical Assistant Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Michigan Institute of Urology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our urology team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare procedure rooms for local procedures by setting up instrumentation, checking case supplies, and opening sterile instruments/supplies in an aseptic technique.
- Assist physicians during local procedures utilizing aseptic technique and demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions, PPE, and aseptic technique.
- Accurately document on procedure-specific memos and use and document on the Electronic Health Record.
- Mix medication on order of the physician and demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment while mixing medications.
- Perform injection/installations on order of the physician and accurately draw and process blood specimens and complete related paperwork.
- Document in and maintain specimen logs, medication logs, MA lab logs, sterilization logs, etc.
- Communicate with patients and physicians/providers and document in the medical record patient medical concerns.
- Insert/remove urinary catheters and participate in the decontamination and processing of procedure instrumentation.
- Operate the autoclave, including cleaning the unit itself, sterilization parameters, and maintenance of autoclave records.
- Assist in room clean-up and the removal of soiled instrumentation, supplies, and trash from the procedure room.
- Clean lab areas, including wiping down furniture/equipment and occasionally mopping floors and emptying trash containers.
- Clean restrooms as needed, including wiping down the entire toilet, cleaning the bathroom floor, wiping down sinks, including handles and faucets.
- Operate the Clinitek Machine (urinalysis) and demonstrate knowledge of cold sterilization, including mixing of solution, handling of solution, solution parameters, and expiration dates, and maintenance of solution logs.
- Restock supply cupboards, labs, and rooms as needed and assist in the maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Use supplies in a conservative and economically minded manner and transport laboratory specimens, x-ray films, instruments, and/or supplies as needed/requested.
- Collaborate with the orientation of new personnel in the office as requested and/or assigned.
- Report to the supervisor when the office schedule is finished to assist office personnel in other areas.
- May rotate within all MIU office locations.
- High School graduate or GED; Medical Assistant certificate required.
- 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency is preferred.
- None.
- Medical Assistant preferred.
- Demonstrates organization, self-motivation, good communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and basic computer skills.
