Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled Medical Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team in Rochester Hills, MI.

About the Role

This full-time position involves performing phlebotomy and lab specimen collections at a client site, working Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 6pm. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Phlebotomy and Lab Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections in accordance with age-related standards.
  • Patient Care: Provide appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care, identify need for patient medical assistance, and call code as appropriate.
  • Specimen Processing: Review and record refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records, report areas of concern to maintenance for repair, and follow established protocols and policies for labeling and processing specimens.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform clerical duties related to handling and processing lab specimens, including faxing, printing, filing, reviewing, and verbally releasing laboratory results.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy Experience: Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types.
  • Laboratory Skills: Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge.
  • EMR Systems: Familiarity with medical EMR systems.
  • Medical Terminology: Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual Skills: Bilingual skills are an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
