At Northwestern Medicine, we strive to deliver exceptional patient care and create a positive work environment. As a Patient Care Tech on our Float CDH Resource Team, you will play a vital role in achieving this goal.
Responsibilities:- Perform basic patient care activities under the supervision of an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assist with maintaining patient rooms clean and orderly.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to function under stressful situations.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize and complete unit work quickly as the needs of the unit, patients, and staff change.
- Serve as a liaison between patient care units and other patient-related departments.
- Answer telephone, intercom, and call lights in a polite manner, using appropriate telephone etiquette and communicate information to the appropriate staff/family/patient.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation, or Certified Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician.
- CPR - Basic Life Support.
A physical demands test provides an objective way to identify if a candidate can meet the essential tasks for the job. The testing protocol was established with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
Job Role Requirement: 50 lbs lift 36 inch wide carry; Push/pull 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:- Phlebotomy experience.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Graduate of Phlebotomy course.
