Role Summary

The Assembler I is an entry-level position at Builders FirstSource, responsible for performing repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce products such as windows, doors, trusses, panels, or stairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts in specified relationships to each other.
  • Fasten parts together using bolts, clips, screws, or cement.
  • Cut products to specific measurements as needed.
  • Remove defective products as required.
  • Tend machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs demand.
  • Adapt to varying product models and production tasks.

Requirements

  • No prior experience or education is required.
  • Prior carpentry experience is helpful but not necessary.

Competencies

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Verbal expression ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.

Work Environment and Physical Activity

  • The employee is continuously required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must continuously lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
