We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Laborer to join our team at Blythe Construction. As an Asphalt Laborer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our road construction projects.

• Walk alongside Asphalt Paver operations to identify areas requiring attention and ensure a smooth asphalt surface.
• Utilize hand tools, such as Asphalt Lutes and Shovels, to manipulate asphalt and maintain a high-quality finish.
• Provide spotting services for dump trucks and other heavy equipment, utilizing visual, verbal, and hand communication to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Operate small equipment, such as broom tractors, skid steers, rollers, chop saws, grinders, and walk-behind saws, to perform various tasks.
• Shovel, sweep, and use a wheelbarrow to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Driver's license (preferred).
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.

• Constant ability to walk at a slow pace on various walking surfaces, including asphalt, concrete, dirt, and stone.
• Frequent ability to stoop, bend, and crouch.
• Frequent physical dexterity to use hand tools, such as hand shovels and asphalt lutes, consisting of pushing/pulling and lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to use steps and handle/grab bars to access and egress heavy mobile equipment.
• Frequent vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequent ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter).

• Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, typically excluding below-freezing temperatures.
• Work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, commonly found in road construction.
• Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found in road construction or near equipment, such as grease, diesel fuel, gasoline, and asphalt.
• Employees regularly work near heavy equipment, moving machinery, and near traffic.
