Axelon Services Corporation is seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and development of our electric utility GIS model.


In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our geospatial data. You will be responsible for updating the GIS system with information from various sources, performing analysis and queries, and generating maps and reports to support operational needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the electric utility GIS model by integrating data from work management systems, as-built drawings, work orders, and field reports.
  • Conduct analysis and queries to assemble data for reports, tabulations, charts, and maps.
  • Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots based on specific information derived from the GIS model and other data sources.
  • Track lifespan of utility asset data, including history, inspections, and attachments.
  • Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation.
  • Support major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangements, and new business development by providing GIS-related assistance.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of GIS principles and data relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Note: While utility experience is preferred, candidates with relevant GIS experience from other industries will be considered. Recent graduates with strong academic GIS backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
