Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Tech to join our team at East Portland Surgery Center. As a Surgical Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper care and use of surgical instruments, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure
  • Assemble supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians' preference cards
  • Inspect equipment for proper working condition
  • Follow principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures
  • Adhere to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure
  • Arrange instruments according to given procedure
  • Confirm that instruments work properly
  • Maintain availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
  • Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and take action according to policy
  • Correctly use, care for, clean, and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed
  • Handle equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedure
  • Assist in storing and stocking supplies as directed
  • Maintain and update instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards
  • Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
  • Document patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures
  • Accurately advise others responsible for care of the patient about the patient's status
  • Assist with room turnover/room cleaning throughout the day for optimal patient flow

Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program
  • 1-2 years of operating room experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties
  • Must be a Certified Surgical Tech
  • BLS Certification
