As a Lead Engineer specializing in Container Security, you will guide the team in establishing security policies, standards, and procedures that align with industry best practices and GitOps methodologies. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our corporate IT environment, maintaining compliance with both internal and external audit standards. Furthermore, you will lead efforts to implement security hardening protocols for our container infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote our container security framework and oversee relevant security components and micro-segmentation controls.
  • Supervise, assess, and educate security teams on container security measures and the underlying containerization platforms.
  • Design, evaluate, and deploy security solutions while adhering to established change management processes.
  • Provide expert security planning, implementation, configuration, support, and troubleshooting across all security technologies.
  • Collaborate with systems and network engineers to ensure compliance of servers and network devices with security standards, confirming that security devices and controls function as intended.
  • Contribute to defining the security strategy and integrating regulatory compliance mandates (e.g., PCI, GLBA) into the organizational security framework.
  • Implement and sustain cryptographic controls (e.g., data at rest, data in transit) in accordance with security requirements.
  • Establish and manage an Incident Response Team to address potential or ongoing security incidents, ensuring adherence to escalation protocols and response timelines.
  • Review and authorize application and systems change requests for security compliance.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in container security, including container workload protection and managing related security controls, such as policy definition and administration of container platform policies, RBAC, and micro-segmentation.
  • 6+ years of technical experience with security solutions and executing security operations.
  • 6+ years of experience in network security, evaluating security tools and solutions, and providing strategic recommendations.
  • 6+ years of familiarity with network protocols, data flows, and attack vectors within an IP environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in configuring security devices and automating processes for large-scale deployments.
  • 3+ years of experience with both commercial and open-source security applications and technologies (e.g., malware prevention, DLP, IDS/IDP, cryptography, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing), along with related protocols and tools (e.g., SSH, SSL/TLS, Snort, port scanners, rootkit detectors).
  • 2+ years of experience in network and application security administration, penetration testing, and/or threat assessments, with relevant certifications (ISSP, GIAC).
  • 2+ years of programming/scripting experience in one or more languages: C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, shell.

Distinguishing Attributes:

  • A strong enthusiasm for container security.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with security software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security systems and network monitoring tools.
  • In-depth technical understanding of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience as a security specialist in a regulated IT environment, including compliance with SOX, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI, and coordinating audits (1+ years).
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Wiz, Twistlock, Laceworks, SumoLogic, Prisma Cloud Compute, Kubernetes, Docker, LXC, or similar.
  • Relevant certifications (or equivalents) such as AWS Associate Solution Architect, Kubernetes certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate detailed implementation and cutover planning that showcases your capability to safely deploy technologies.
  • A GitHub repository that illustrates proficiency in programming/scripting.

Salary Information:

The typical base salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $174,825. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements, and skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
