Food Production and Quality Assurance
  • Oversee and streamline production processes within Prepared Foods [including hot/soup/salad bars, chef's case, venues, and fresh pack] to guarantee that quality, presentation, and food safety are consistently upheld.
  • Implement and communicate operational procedures and regional merchandising standards for all culinary initiatives.
  • Ensure the integrity of menu implementations and planograms.
  • Monitor inventory levels and execute all promotional deals and sales initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships and maintain effective communication with store leadership and team buyers.
  • Take ownership of results, organize work systematically, and delegate responsibilities efficiently.
  • Prioritize production tasks for back-of-house operations.
  • Ensure optimal conditions for walk-ins and compliance with all signage and messaging.
  • Oversee the fulfillment of Prepared Foods catering orders.
  • Coordinate regional culinary tasting events.
  • Participate in inventory management as needed.
Customer Service and Hospitality
  • Lead by example in promoting exceptional hospitality to all guests of Whole Foods Market.
  • Act as a culinary ambassador to enhance the in-store experience for customers.
  • Stay attuned to customer flows and needs; guide Team Members as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
Collaborative Partnerships

This position will report directly to the Prepared Foods Team Leader and collaborate closely with Store Leadership and Regional culinary teams. The Culinary Supervisor will build trust with a team of Leaders, Supervisors, and Service and Production Team Members.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A minimum of 18 months of combined professional hospitality/kitchen experience and culinary training.
  • Ability to instruct and develop others in a constructive and encouraging manner.
  • Organized and systematic work approach with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills to foster team building and customer relationships.
  • A genuine passion for food.
  • Food safety certification is required; if not currently certified, a commitment to obtaining certification within six months is necessary.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is expected.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours.
  • Physical activities may include bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, reaching, and climbing; use of ladders may be required.
  • Capability to lift heavy items unassisted or with assistance, up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical dexterity for repetitive hand and arm motions, including fine manipulation and pushing/pulling.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Work in varying temperatures: below 32 degrees F (freezing), 32-40 degrees F (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees F.
  • Ability to work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Competence in using operational tools and machinery.
  • Willingness to travel for training or meetings as required.
