Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist at Henry Ford Health System, you will play a vital role in delivering life-support, resuscitation, and medical gases therapy to patients. You will perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures, maintain clinical expertise, and communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and physicians. Your primary focus will be on providing exceptional patient care, collaborating with healthcare providers, and staying up-to-date with the latest clinical developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient needs, develop care plans, and collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff, providing guidance and communication to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Function as a team member in patient care and mentoring, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and other professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical excellence, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with clinical developments, attending conferences, in-services, and staff meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Perform specific duties as assigned, including equipment maintenance, repair, and testing.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely, adhering to departmental standards.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field preferred.
  • Recent graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program or two years of recent experience in a tertiary hospital setting.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current License - Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in a patient care setting with potential exposure to communicable disease.
  • Wash, clean, and disinfect medical equipment.
  • Work with pressurized piped-in and bottled medical gases.
  • Must be able to constantly move, lift patients, and move heavy equipment across the hospital.
