This role involves overseeing multiple projects within designated divisions to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform essential duties of an MEP Coordinator.
  • Establish and enforce MEP standards and procedures, including tracking, scheduling, and quality management for assigned projects.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project teams regarding MEP support requests.
  • Assist in developing installation sequences and schedules for MEP components.
  • Review shop drawings and submittal schedules for accuracy and completeness; address any identified issues.
  • Oversee startup and commissioning sequences according to project requirements.
  • Inspect off-site stored equipment, materials, and fabrications as necessary.
  • Foster strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of MEP trade scopes and documentation; identify and resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Monitor on-site activities to ensure adherence to contract specifications and timelines; provide updates on progress.
  • Participate in or lead project and team meetings as required.
  • Assist in establishing testing schedules for subcontractor components leading to coordinated system testing.
  • Engage in BIM coordination as necessary.
  • Support project teams in evaluating change order requests and pricing for MEP trades.
  • Review project close-out documentation, including schedules and as-built drawings.
  • Assess subcontractor budgets, scope sheets, and qualifications.
  • Provide recommendations regarding subcontractor performance and suitability for specific projects.
  • Assist in high-level bid evaluations for MEP scopes.
  • Identify and implement risk mitigation strategies for assigned projects.
  • Facilitate training on MEP procedures, systems, and best practices, and support the development of junior MEP staff.
  • Incorporate Swinerton's core values into MEP practices and daily operations.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain within six months; STSC certification within the first year.
  • Minimum of five years of construction or field-related experience, with at least three years in an MEP role.
  • Proven experience with MEP systems and a strong understanding of their requirements.
  • Familiarity with contract language and building codes.
  • Ability to identify and resolve jobsite challenges while collaborating with teams for project success.
  • Proficient in reading plans, RFIs, submittals, and specifications.
  • Experience with VD&C applications and construction management software (CMIC preferred); scheduling software (P6 preferred).
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
  • Possess emotional control, resourcefulness, adaptability, and effective time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
