Job Summary

Rochelle Community Hospital is seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiovascular imaging, measuring, and calculating to determine anatomy, function, and status according to standard of care.
  • Perform stress echocardiograms.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Communicate abnormal findings to the Cardiologist and ordering provider.
  • Obtain patient identifiers, medical history, and lab work prior to scanning patients to adapt sonographic examinations as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
  • Assist with daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
  • Prepare preliminary reports in PACS and contact referring physicians when required.
  • Address problems of patient care as they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
  • Organize daily work schedule and perform related clerical duties as required.
  • Monitor PACS, hold, fix, and unread lists to ensure studies are being read in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
  • Graduate of a formal Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) preferred.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
  • Current BLS.

Job may require potential exposure to chemical/hazardous materials.

Requires potential for exposure to an environmental hazard of radiation.

Must be able to push, pull, or lift 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
