We are seeking a seasoned professional to serve as an After School Care Director at the YMCA of Southwest Florida.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of our after-school program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children aged 5-12. Key responsibilities include managing staff, maintaining compliance with YMCA policies and DCF licensing requirements, and developing and implementing program plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of after-school program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children
  • Maintain compliance with YMCA policies and DCF licensing requirements
  • Develop and implement program plans that reflect the YMCA's mission and values
  • Supervise and manage staff, providing guidance, leadership, and training as needed
  • Plan special events, field trips, or programs for school holidays and provide family events during the year
  • Interact with participants to ensure their individual needs are met
  • E nsure all necessary program supplies are on hand, well-maintained, organized, and accessible to program staff at all times
  • Assume same duties as teachers in the center
  • Responsible for creation, orientation, instruction, and accountability of program guidelines/expectations for participants and staff
  • Assist with staff training, leading weekly staff meetings, reviewing participants and staff performance
  • Plan, supervise, and execute an environment of customer service excellence
  • Greet caregivers and participants upon arrival to center
  • Respond quickly to concerns of caregivers and staff
  • Ensure program information is regularly communicated to caregivers via various channels and maintain regular communication with caregiver families
  • Develop and foster interpersonal relationships between participants, staff, and caregiver families; create a positive, welcoming environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness towards staff and customers
  • Directly supervise other program staff (Sr Group Leaders, Group Leaders, Jr Group Leaders) and volunteers in the performance of their duties by providing guidance, leadership, and training
  • Actively listen to all participants, staff, and members, showing patience, understanding, and respect for others
  • Actively protect the emotional safety of all participants and staff, encouraging development of social skills and emotional intelligence
  • Responsible for physical safety of participants and staff at all times
  • Responsible for training staff on understanding and implementing emergency procedures as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all YMCA safety and DCF licensing requirements for school-age programming
  • Assume responsibility of the Center at all times. Ensure all site-specific opening and closing procedures are completed daily
  • Monitor program area at all times to ensure physical safety, uphold all staff safety requirements, and immediately make changes as necessary
  • Responsible for maintaining and enforcing all cleanliness standards throughout the day as well as proper safe food handling procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining and responding to all required daily reports, including attendance & absenteeism, incidents, accidents, behavior reports, and food program reports

Estimated Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, based on industry standards and location factors
