JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Exercise Specialist II is responsible for overseeing, planning, and implementing preventive and rehabilitative health services for patients.

This role involves delivering patient care by monitoring and evaluating the patient's status, executing care interventions and assessments, analyzing the outcomes of treatments and medications, and providing education to patients and their families regarding the nature, management, and treatment of health conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Provides patient care by monitoring and evaluating the patient's condition; executing care interventions, analyzing treatment outcomes, and educating patients and their families about the nature, management, and treatment of health conditions.

Evaluates the status of assigned patients by gathering medical histories through documentation, interviewing patients and/or family members, and through observation.

Creates exercise prescriptions that align with the assessment of the patient's condition and complement the medical care plan and the patient's objectives.

Conducts appropriate exercise tolerance assessments on diverse patient groups and adheres to established procedures and guidelines during testing. Implements care plans by instructing patients on how to perform prescribed exercises.

Continuously reassesses and evaluates the patient's response to exercise, adjusting exercise prescriptions as necessary. Collaborates closely with other team members to coordinate the care provided.

Records relevant assessment data, treatment activities, and patient outcomes in the patient record (manual and/or electronic). Communicates significant changes in the patient's condition to appropriate team members and family representatives.

Educates patients and family members by discussing administered treatments, patient priorities, and essential steps for ongoing care and rehabilitation, including home care guidelines.

Provides support to patients and family members, addressing their concerns.

Effectively communicates with team members to gather and share information related to patient assessment, outcomes, and the planning and execution of care plans.

Assists in the training of clinical care technicians and other support personnel.

Participates in patient care meetings.

Contributes to the development and implementation of discharge instructions and home care programs.

Researches, develops, and delivers educational initiatives for patients, their families, team members, student interns, community groups, and other healthcare professionals.

Creates educational materials such as brochures, pamphlets, and booklets.

Maintains awareness of current trends in exercise physiology and cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, contributing to the educational experience of students in health professions.

Engages in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and other quality monitoring and enhancement activities to better meet customer needs and improve service quality.

Oversees exercise testing operations. Trains junior Exercise Physiologists in proper testing procedures and exercise program formulation.

Documents the knowledge and skills of junior Exercise Physiologists in exercise evaluation/prescription and fitness instruction.

May collaborate with other healthcare managers to provide educational presentations for staff, fitness members, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of experience required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
