As a Physical Therapist at Ochsner, you will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and conducting physical therapy treatment programs based on evaluations, assessments, and medical referrals. Your expertise will be utilized to maintain patient care records, evaluate responses to treatment, and recommend plan changes. Additionally, you will participate in in-service and continuing education programs, special departmental initiatives, clinical education, research, and writing of professional papers.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and current licensure in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is also necessary. You must possess computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information, effective verbal and written communication skills, and excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients with various diagnoses and conditions, utilizing evidence-based practices and techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, adhering to documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in staff and committee projects, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing departmental needs.
- Meet productivity expectations set by administration and engage in professional development, required training, and credentialing.
- Contribute to the education and training of physical therapy students.
- Exhibit cultural competence, respecting patients' diverse backgrounds and adapting communication styles accordingly.
Physical and Environmental Demands
This role involves Very Heavy Work, requiring exertion of over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Manual dexterity, stooping, bending, reaching, squatting, crawling, and grabbing are essential tasks. Travel throughout and between facilities is necessary, and duties involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
The successful candidate will remain knowledgeable about federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements applicable to this role. Compliance with the Ochsner Health System Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct is expected, including the immediate reporting of any unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct.
Ochsner Health System offers competitive salary packages, which for this position, range from $85,000 to $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
