Medical Specialist 2

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist 2 to join our team. As a senior practicing specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients within your specialized field. You will also advise and confer with members of other disciplines to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.
This is a part-time position with a 50% workweek, requiring 20 hours of work per week. The workweek is Monday to Friday, with a workday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The position is permanent, with a non-competitive class jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and revise medical policy and procedures to ensure quality care.
- Review lab work, specialty consults, hospital discharges, and medical visit summaries to assist the group home RN and treatment team.
- Discuss care with hospital or rehabilitation facility providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Review and approve discharge summaries prior to accepting individuals back into the group home residence.
- Review medical information for new admissions to a residence to ensure appropriate care can be provided.
- Communicate with team members regarding medical issues and participate in team meetings as needed.
- Communicate with family members and advocates to explain medical or treatment issues.
- Provide short-term urgently needed prescription renewals when a community medical provider is unavailable.
- Function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, attending meetings and serving on committees to improve individual services and outcomes.
- Provide after-hours and weekend on-call medical telephone consult on a rotating basis.
- Provide coverage of primary medical care for people living in a Comprehensive Adult Transitional Home if required.
- Provide medical expertise to Family Care Program and Community Mental Health Nurses as needed.
- Assist with physician coverage as needed in sister regions.
