We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to lead our campus protection team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our staff, students, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and oversight to assigned security officers, ensuring they are equipped to handle various security situations.
- Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to detect and prevent potential security threats, rule violations, and irregularities.
- Investigation and Reporting: Investigate and report hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to the campus police unit as needed.
- Work Coordination: Coordinate and monitor work activities of field security officers at specific locations, ensuring seamless operations.
- Shift Management: Monitor shift activity and make recommendations for adjustments in shift assignments as needed to optimize security coverage.
- Training and Development: Train new security officers or other personnel, providing ongoing work leadership and support to ensure they are equipped to handle their roles effectively.
- Additional Duties: Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least three years of directly related experience in security or a related field
- A basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions
