We are currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Technician for our Kensington underground gold mine, a subsidiary of Coeur Alaska, Inc. This mine, along with its milling facilities, is located in the Berners Bay Mining District, approximately 45 miles north-northwest of Juneau, Alaska.

The Mobile Maintenance Technician will be required to reside and work in a camp environment at the Kensington Mine site. Successful candidates will follow a rotational schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on both surface and underground mobile mining equipment, including drills, bolters, loaders, haul trucks, and both heavy and light-duty support machinery.
  • Conduct intermediate welding and fabrication tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engine issues.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components of mobile mining equipment.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including safety, environmental, and HR regulations. Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with Environment, Health, Safety, and Social Responsibility Policies, ensuring the protection of the environment and the safety of themselves and others.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and promote safe practices among peers.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred certification or degree in Heavy Equipment Mechanical Maintenance from a vocational technical school or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong analytical, technical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Possession of personal hand tools is required.
  • Willingness to work in challenging underground environments and adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and potential hazards.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Commitment to high standards of performance, accountability, and trust-building.
  • Preference may be given to residents of Alaska.
