Job Overview
The Fabrication Specialist is responsible for executing welding tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor or General Manager, utilizing various welding techniques including Mig, Tig, and Stick welding.
- Independently manage assigned welding projects.
- Prepare components for welding in accordance with technical drawings and specifications, which may involve cutting and grinding.
- Adhere to established welding procedures and protocols.
- Complete all tasks assigned by management efficiently.
- Uphold a high standard of workmanship and quality assurance.
- Ensure welds meet quality standards, focusing on bead appearance and pressure integrity.
Quality Control
Be aware of and avoid common welding defects such as:
- Undercutting
- Excessive weld penetration
- Porosity
- Lack of fusion
Technical Skills
Possess the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with guidance from supervisors. Follow detailed welding procedures and utilize necessary measuring tools for layout tasks. Be proficient in using inspection instruments to assess completed work.
Have a foundational understanding of various metal types and the appropriate filler materials for welding applications.
Additional Duties
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of 1 year of welding experience is necessary.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to frequently walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel. Regularly required to push, pull, move, or lift items weighing up to 100 lbs. Must be capable of reaching with hands and arms.
Work Environment
Work will primarily take place in a metal fabrication setting, adhering to safety and operational protocols.
