This role is designed for a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and process-focused senior IT Project Manager tasked with overseeing a significant IT initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the deployment of laboratory information management systems (LIMS), ensuring timely delivery within defined scope and budget.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders from various departments to gather requirements, maintain documentation, contribute to RFPs, schedule project timelines, allocate resources, and track progress.
  • Define roles and responsibilities clearly, fostering constructive participation from all team members.
  • Effectively manage project tasks to ensure adherence to the established schedule.
  • Collect and synthesize requirements from a diverse user base into a comprehensive requirements statement.
  • Prepare necessary documentation, secure approvals, and monitor all changes in project scope.
  • Communicate project updates and changes to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Establish project objectives and develop strategic plans to achieve them.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee multiple related projects throughout their lifecycle to ensure success as defined by scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and ensure thorough documentation of progress and outcomes.
  • Provide timely status reports reflecting project status, challenges, and risks.
  • Proactively identify risks and collaborate with the project team to address concerns.
  • Consult with the project team on all facets of project management, ensuring compliance with established policies and standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 years of proven experience as an IT Project Manager.
  • 7 years of substantial experience in both agile and waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • 5 years of experience in the RFP process is essential.
  • 7 years of experience with Planview Enterprise 1 or similar project management tools is required.
  • 7 years of experience with Azure DevOps or other Agile project management tools is necessary.
  • Certification as a Project Manager by PMI or VITA PM certification is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems is highly desirable.
  • 5 years of experience as a Project Manager within a Commonwealth of Virginia Executive Branch Agency is preferred.
