Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreational Aide Acute, Part-Time to join our team at AltaPointe Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement recreation and activity therapies in consultation with the Recreational Specialist, utilizing assessment data to inform your approach.
  • Plan and develop activities that cater to the unique needs and goals of each consumer, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate recreation therapy groups, promoting socialization, skill-building, and emotional well-being.
  • Implement planned activities, providing ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers to ensure their needs are met.
  • Teach consumers essential skills to transition to less restrictive settings, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Assist with special facility events, such as talent shows and seasonal festivities, fostering a sense of community and social connection.
  • Demonstrate crisis intervention skills, recognizing the signs of a crisis state and de-escalating or resolving situations effectively.
  • Apply seclusion and restraint procedures as required, adhering to AltaPointe Policy and Procedure.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team and outside sources to deliver comprehensive services, ensuring a cohesive and effective treatment plan.
  • Adhere to professional codes of ethics, upholding the highest standards of care and respect for consumers.
  • Supervise and consult with colleagues, seeking guidance and sharing expertise to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, documenting consumer progress and treatment goals.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent and adult specialties, to be attained within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, growth and development, cultural diversity, behavior management, crisis intervention, and psychiatric rehabilitation principles.
  • Knowledge of available community resources and educational methods for consumers with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic activities, including recreation and leisure, expressive arts, and other relevant areas.
Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, sitting, and walking, as well as occasional forward bending, squatting, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Strong grasp and pushing/pulling force are also necessary for this position.
