At Thrive Pet Healthcare, we're committed to empowering our team members to deliver exceptional care to pets and their families. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a vital role in our mission by providing end-to-end care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Support veterinarians in ensuring quality care, advocating for pets, and educating clients.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures, adhering to state Veterinary Practice Act guidelines.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Nursing skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, triage, radiology, laboratory procedures, administration of medications (IV, IM, PO, SQ), and patient care.
- Triage: the ability to perform physical exams; accurately count heart rate, CRT, mucous membrane color, temperature, respiratory rate, and respiratory effort, and obtain a history from the owner.
- Surgical/Anesthesia skills are a requirement. Must have prior anesthesia and surgery training.
- In-patient experience preferred.
- CVT Preferred but not required.
- Has 2+ years of veterinary experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
