Position Summary:
This role is pivotal in overseeing the regulation of financial services, focusing on public protection and education. You will engage in research, analysis, and the formulation of position statements regarding proposed federal legislation and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth legal analysis on complex and sensitive issues, summarizing findings in clear and concise reports.
  • Provide expert guidance to leadership and stakeholders on the interpretation of federal acts and DFI regulations.
  • Deliver formal and informal briefings on intricate legal matters to DFI leadership and staff.
  • Perform legal research and apply relevant laws and regulations to current issues.
  • Draft legal documents, position statements, and memos in accessible language.
  • Advise senior management on emerging issues and legislative developments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights on proposed legislation and its implications for state regulation.

Qualifications:

Required:
Graduation from an accredited law school.

Preferred:
Membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
Experience in policy analysis, legislative advocacy, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong writing and presentation skills, particularly in politically sensitive contexts.
A minimum of four years of relevant experience in policy research and legislative analysis.

Understanding of the political landscape and the ability to navigate complex environments to achieve organizational goals is essential.

Work Environment:
