Key Responsibilities- Set up food stations, counters, and tables for food service according to established policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of regular and diet food, including standard formulas, and deliver bulk nourishments to wards using specialized equipment.
- Assist cooks in basic food preparation, including light cooking, panning up food, and prepping food items.
- Serve food to customers and patients in cafeterias, dining halls, and hospital wards.
- Maintain a daily supply of serving utensils and items needed for service.
- Perform routine auxiliary tasks, such as carrying supplies to and from storage rooms.
- Assemble patient meals by reading menus that indicate dietary requirements and selecting appropriate food items for delivery.
- Lift 50 pounds of foods in bulk and transport to storage areas.
- Handle cash accurately by verifying the cash register, keying in accurate charges, and making change.
- Receive, store, and issue food and supply items according to invoices.
- Work in locations such as the freezer, refrigerator, dry storage, and loading dock areas.
- Maintain department sanitation by washing and sanitizing pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
- Act as a lead worker or team leader to a small group of food service workers.
- Give oral and written instructions and demonstrations to promote satisfactory performance.
- Train new food service workers in the performance of their tasks.
- Observe the workplace to ensure safe practices are carried out.
- Assist in preparing and documenting daily reports by recording temperature checks for food and equipment.
- Replenish food supplies and monitor supply levels.
- Schedule and assign duties to meet meal schedules.
- Check the tray line for completeness and proper appearance.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of work experience in the operation of a large, high-volume food service organization.
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process. This includes a Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ) and a Multiple Choice Examination. Candidates must achieve a passing score on both examinations to continue in the selection process.
