Position Overview:
The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a highly skilled physician to fill an Academic OBGYN Laborist position in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, high-quality, cost-effective obstetrical care using evidence-based medicine and best practices.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary obstetric team, including OB/GYN generalists, Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Family Medicine obstetric providers, Residents, and Fellows.
- Round on antepartum and postpartum patients, provide obstetric and gynecologic consultations to the inpatient and emergency departments, and consult for family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in obstetric quality and safety initiatives and committees.
Requirements:
- Medical degree (MD) or equivalent.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Excellent clinical and surgical skills, excellent skills in patient management, strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated teaching skills, and commitment to team culture.
- Licensure eligibility by the Iowa Board of Medicine and licensure by the Iowa Board of Medicine before commencement of employment.
- American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology active candidate/board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching and practicing in a busy obstetric practice.
