We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate OB Technician to join our team at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. As a key member of our Labor and Delivery department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, oral and denture care, shaving, backrub, and skin care.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including positioning, ambulation, and special transferring needs.
- Respond to patient requests and refer to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Collect, prepare, and transport specimens as directed by the Team Leader.
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Perform oral suctioning using a yankauer suctioning instrument, as delegated by the RN.
- Participate in the Admission/Discharge/Transfer process of all patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse.
- Process therapeutic and diagnostic orders, including transcribing orders, notifying patient care teams, and communicating with ancillary departments.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of patient medical records, including verifying demographic information, assembling charts, and maintaining unit logs.
- Develop and maintain technical skills through mandatory unit inservices and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement Process.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with 1 year of experience (preferred) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with 1 year of experience (preferred) or Certified Scrub Technician (CST).
- CPR certification.
- Knowledge of basic computer keyboard functions (preferred).
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates responsible and ethical behaviors consistent with the Advocate values.
This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week, with a schedule of 7a-7p. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
