We are seeking a skilled Protection and Control Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, testing, and maintaining protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, and digital fault recorders. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our clients' power systems.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Functional testing of protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks
  • Installation and commissioning of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, and digital fault recorders
  • RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients
  • Experience with SEL microprocessor relays, GE microprocessor relays, and various RTUs and communication processors
  • Accurate documentation and submission of test reports for client reporting and regulatory purposes
  • Interpretation of one-line, three-line, wiring, and schematic diagrams
  • Accurate completion of time and expense reports and maintenance of company vehicles
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical testing with a focus on protection and control equipment, RTUs, and telecom
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience with transmission and distribution relays, substation RTUs, and communication processors
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and periodic unannounced drug tests
  • Pass pre-employment background check with 7-year history
  • Valid driver's license and meet minimum motor vehicle insurability standards
  • Ability to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions
  • Willingness to travel extensively to client work locations
