Orthodontist Job Description

As an Orthodontist at Southern Dental Alliance, you will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating dental malocclusions and oral cavity anomalies. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and fabricating appliances to realign teeth and jaws, ensuring normal function and improving appearance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine patients to assess abnormalities of jaw development, tooth position, and other dental-facial structures.
  • Diagnose dental conditions and abnormalities, including teeth and jaw or other dental-facial issues.
  • Design and fabricate appliances, such as space maintainers, retainers, and labial and lingual arch wires.
  • Adjust dental appliances to produce and maintain normal function.
  • Fit dental appliances in patients' mouths to alter the position and relationship of teeth and jaws or to realign teeth.
  • Coordinate orthodontic services with other dental and medical services.
  • Develop a friendly, polite, and helpful attitude towards patients, ensuring a positive experience.
Qualifications
  • A DDS or DMD degree, licensed in the state where practicing or have the ability to obtain licensure upon graduation.
  • A current Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Completion of a general practice residency (GPR) or advanced education general dentistry residency (AEGD) is preferred.
  • American Board of General Dentistry, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, etc. (if applicable).
  • A 2-year orthodontic residency and American Board of Orthodontic certification are required.
