Job Title: Swim Instructor

The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the foundation of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

As a Swim Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. You will be responsible for preparing lesson plans, building effective relationships with parents and students, and conveying information on aquatics programs and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct swimming lessons and prepare lesson plans according to YMCA standards.
  • Build effective relationships with parents and students to connect and inform parents of each other and student's accomplishments.
  • Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and refer students and parents to other programs.
  • Maintain records and attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Requirements:

  • At minimum, some high school level education (over 16+ years of age).
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen.
  • Current YMCA Swim Instructor certification or training provided.
