As an Aviation Rescue Swimmer with the US Navy, you will be part of an elite team responsible for conducting search and rescue operations in extreme environments. Your duties will include coordinating with pilots, rescuing people in distress, and providing support to Naval Special Warfare Operations.
Responsibilities- Conduct search and rescue operations in various environments, including at sea and in remote areas
- Operate helicopters and other aircraft systems to support mission objectives
- Work with pilots and other team members to coordinate rescue efforts
- Provide support to Naval Special Warfare Operations, including conducting surveillance and delivering aid
As an Aviation Rescue Swimmer, you will operate in a variety of environments, including at sea, in remote areas, and in extreme weather conditions. You may be assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat (HSC) or Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons (HSM) sea or shore duty in any part of the world.
Training & AdvancementAviation Rescue Swimmers undergo rigorous training to prepare them for the demands of the job. This includes advanced swimming and lifesaving techniques, helicopter mission equipment, and helicopter weapons systems. Throughout their career, they will have opportunities for advancement and specialization in areas such as search and rescue, surveillance, and delivery of aid.
Qualifications & Requirements- Meet specific eyesight requirements: uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100; correctable to 20/20 in both eyes with normal depth and color perception
- Meet the minimum Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score: VE+AR+MK+MC=210 or VE+AR+MK+AS=210
- Pass a PST in DEP/Boot Camp
- Pass Class 1 Flight Physical
- Be 30 years of age or younger
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for security clearance
