POSITION OVERVIEW

PIMCO is on the lookout for a Senior Quantitative Developer to become a vital member of our PM-Analytics, Portfolio Engineering, and Implementation team. This role will concentrate on enhancing and integrating systematic signals and portfolio construction methodologies into our investment frameworks. You will collaborate closely with Quantitative Researchers, Portfolio Managers, and Analysts to develop and implement systematic signals and investment strategies. Your responsibilities will encompass data analysis, comprehending inputs to signals, creating systems for strategy deployment aimed at alpha generation, and conducting analyses to support the strategy/model implementation process across various asset classes. As a Quant Developer in our Newport Beach office, you will engage directly with our Portfolio Managers and Quantitative Analysts. Our ideal candidate will possess a passion for quantitative methodologies within the financial sector, technology, and making a tangible business impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with Quantitative Analysts and Portfolio Managers to implement, deploy, and support portfolio construction engines and strategy execution.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the PIMCO Common Model Execution Framework and Optimization Engine, contributing to their support and future development.
  • Provide timely and proactive assistance to end users.
  • Troubleshoot data and/or software issues, implementing swift solutions.
  • Partner with Data Teams to onboard necessary data onto PIMCO's core data services platform.
  • Actively engage in design and review sessions with stakeholders, project managers, and developers.
  • Work collaboratively with technologists, traders, and other researchers to create robust systematic trading software solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (financial engineering or other technically rigorous programs such as theoretical physics or mathematics).
  • 7+ years of practical experience with Python and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in modern SQL-based relational databases.
  • 5+ years of Object-Oriented Programming experience, with hands-on knowledge in Java (or C#/C++) being advantageous.
  • Strong grasp of probability and statistics (e.g., machine learning, time-series analysis, pattern recognition, NLP).
  • Experience applying quantitative techniques to resolve highly complex, data-intensive challenges.
  • Knowledge of financial products, particularly fixed income, is highly preferred.
  • Able to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and excel in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment. Previous team management experience with the ability to mentor and coach is preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The base salary is the fixed component of compensation determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors.
