Are you passionate about delivering high-quality developmental early care and education services in a supportive, equitable, and inclusive setting? - FELTON IS HIRING

About the Organization
Established in 1889, Felton Institute has a rich legacy of providing innovative services to vulnerable populations, including children, families, and adults. With a robust operating budget and a dedicated workforce, we foster a dynamic and supportive work atmosphere where employees are encouraged to enhance their skills and advance their careers. Program Overview
The FDC is a licensed child development initiative managed by the Family Service Agency of San Francisco since 1971. This program offers developmental childcare and school readiness services for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (ages 2 weeks to 6 years). Our multicultural and educational childcare program is designed to provide a nurturing and developmentally stimulating environment for young children from low-income, at-risk families. We emphasize culturally sensitive services, ensuring our approach is multilingual and reflective of the diverse community we serve. Our commitment to inclusivity fosters positive self-esteem and self-image among children.

Key Responsibilities
As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the lives of children by creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating regular communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and developmental milestones.
  • Managing and supervising the operations of an assigned FDC infant/toddler/preschool room, including overseeing staff and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for all children.
  • Greeting parents or guardians warmly and exchanging accurate information about their child's daily experiences.
  • Creating a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, focusing on language development and emergent literacy skills.
  • Observing and documenting children's progress and achievements.
  • Collaborating with classroom staff to ensure high-quality programming and services.
  • Demonstrating sensitivity and empathy towards children and families, while being open to new ideas and approaches.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for a State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Current certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR is encouraged.
  • Knowledge and experience working with children with special needs and understanding the challenges faced by low-income families.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Join us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families through dedicated early childhood education.
