Job Summary

Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Formulation Chemist to join our Research and Development team in Phoenix, AZ. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing new liquid, powder, or solid beauty products and duplicating competitive products to meet or exceed customer and company expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Interpret project briefs, descriptions, and requests and develop chemical components and formula combinations to meet or exceed targets.
  • Supplier Management: Meet with suppliers and technical experts for product information, collecting the newest developments, and formulating appropriate applications.
  • Formulation and Testing: Assemble chemicals and materials into laboratory batches and test formulas for efficacy/performance.
  • Quality and Cost Optimization: Modify, substitute, and reformulate materials to meet the highest level of customer expectations, and quality while achieving formulation cost targets.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate alternate chemical suppliers and enter/review formulas in computer systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot formula issues related to manufacturing/compounding.
  • Project Management: Participate in project team meetings, providing project updates when requested targeting on-time completion.
  • Manufacturing Support: Work with Process Engineer to help transition approved formulations to full-scale manufacturing, including support during plant trials and the start of production.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field of study.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of prior formulation experience and has prior experience working in an industrial lab setting.
  • Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, testing instrumentation, experimental design, and controls.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience with personal care, beauty products, cosmetics, pet care, or household products is a plus.
Benefits
  • Salary: $60,000-$75,000 (flexible based on experience).
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
  • Hiring Method: 6 month-long contract to permanent full-time hire.
