Job SummaryThe FSQA Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with Foster Farms' food safety and quality standards. This position oversees the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs, supervises hourly FSQA team members, and assesses and resolves food safety and quality issues within the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Hiring and Training: Recruit, supervise, and train hourly FSQA technicians in monitoring, verifying, and validating food safety programs, including HACCP, SSOP, and pre-requisites, as well as Foster Farms' corporate programs.
- Monitoring and Problem-Solving: Monitor data and address processing, sanitation, and maintenance-related issues in a timely manner through hands-on involvement.
- Communication and Non-Conformance: Communicate non-conformances to FSQA and operations management in a timely manner and authorize non-conforming product on FSQA hold if it does not meet Foster Farms' standards, customer expectations, or legal requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Interface with USDA/FSIS personnel for regulatory non-compliance resolution and information requests.
- Training and Development: Provide communication support to production management team for establishing corrective and preventive actions in response to non-compliances and assist operations management in training new production employees to ensure competence with GMPs, food safety requirements, and quality criteria.
- Program Development and Maintenance: Assist in developing and maintaining current FSQA programs and adjust programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Data Reporting and Analysis: Maintain FSQA data reporting systems, communicating trends and root-cause analysis to management for deficiency resolution and process improvement.
- Project Participation: Actively participate in projects (FSQA or operations) and activities to modify, retrofit, and improve performance from a food safety and/or quality perspective.
This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety and quality principles and be able to apply them in a practical setting.
