Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Queens University of Charlotte. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as our athletic facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular foot patrols and security checks of the athletic facilities to identify and report any potential security risks or hazards.
  • Monitor the card access system to ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the facilities.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to incidents, including emergencies and suspicious activity.
  • Identify and report any hazards or potential security risks to the appropriate authorities.
  • Assist with special events and crowd control, ensuring the safety and security of all attendees.
  • Complete accurate and thorough written reports of any incidents or security-related activities.
Requirements
  • Previous security experience, particularly on an educational campus, is preferred.
  • Valid NC Driver license and good driving record; must be insurable.
  • Skill in providing protection services and ability to detect criminal activity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer for report writing and timekeeping.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions based on presented facts.
Working Conditions

The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple interruptions and deadlines. The position requires the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
