Job Title: Technology Manager

Job Summary

The Technology Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's technological infrastructure. This includes ensuring that systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain information technology strategies to support business goals.
  • Manage staff and coordinate activities of the Managed Service Provider to ensure seamless IT operations.
  • Research and implement technological solutions to address business needs.
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job results to ensure high-quality IT services.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures to maintain organizational effectiveness.
  • Direct technological research to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
  • Verify application results by conducting system audits of implemented technologies.
  • Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and backup procedures and information security and control structures.
  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures to evaluate organizational outcomes.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, monitor, and maintain software and data in a systematic method.
  • Develop an awareness of upstream and downstream system interactions and dependencies.
  • Drive operational efficiency and manageability through the use of best practices (end-to-end ownership).
  • Participate in the development of mockups, models, simulations, functional capabilities to support user engagement, interaction, and feedback.
  • Schedule jobs to provide required operational support.
  • Find solutions to problems while balancing quality, speed, and costs.
  • Provide ideas on how technology can improve business processes.
  • Track, identify, and report issues that may affect solution quality and bring forward improvement recommendations.
  • Understand data within a line of business and able to identify actionable insights.
  • Monitor and manage the strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program.
  • Assist in facilitating risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Review/monitor for potential system breaches, alerts from information security tools, and assist with investigation and resolution of security incidents.
  • Apply knowledge of network and systems to ensure optimal security.
  • Coordinate and provide expert technical support to enterprise-wide cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber defense incidents.
  • Coordinate incident response functions.
  • Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.
  • Receive and analyze network alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determine possible causes of such alerts.
  • Write and publish cyber defense techniques, guidance, and reports on incident findings to appropriate constituencies.
  • Travel between southeast office locations up to 25% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with security and network systems required.
  • CISSP certification, Sec+ or equivalent a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrate an automation-first mentality that improves quality and efficiency.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of underlying architectures and how they relate to solution needs.
  • Awareness of the operating characteristics (e.g. security, performance, scalability, manageability) of solutions and is accountable for supporting those requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of data structures.
  • Leverage and anticipate modern technologies, e.g. AI/ML, to support full-stack proficiency.
  • Interpret meaning through the identification and study of patterns in environment and/or data.
  • Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, and NIST.
  • Knowledge of OSI model and underlying network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).
  • Demonstrate understanding of key networking technologies (LAN/WAN, data center switching and routing, extranet) to build, optimize, and support high-availability networks.
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services.
  • Understand end-user technologies to identify common security issues and vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of incident categories, incident responses, and timelines for responses.
  • Knowledge of incident response and handling methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cyber attackers (e.g., script kiddies, insider threat, non-nation state-sponsored, and nation-sponsored).
  • Knowledge of different classes of attacks (e.g., passive, active, insider, close-in, distribution attacks).
  • Knowledge of cyber attack stages (e.g., reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, gaining access, escalation of privileges, maintaining access, network exploitation, covering tracks).
  • Specific experience in Agile (scaled) software development or other best-in-class development practices.
  • A self-starter who regularly demonstrates initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of personal integrity.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to plan and organize accordingly.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
