Nurse Specialist

ChristianaCare, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Wilmington Intensive Care Unit (WICU), you will work closely with hospitalists, specialty consultants, and transitional nursing staff to provide exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for assessing patients' physical and emotional status, past health history, health practices, and their knowledge of their disease and its treatment. As a transitional nurse, you will engage in a relationship-based care model, building relationships with patients and families, as well as with your peers, guided by ChristianaCare's values of excellence and love.
You will manage a team of 3 to 4 medical or surgical patients per shift and work with the multidisciplinary team to achieve realistic healthcare goals for the patient and their family.
You will plan your nursing care to promote patient wellness and provide patients and their families with information related to their disease process and patient education.
In addition, you will closely monitor patients, manage emergencies, and provide ongoing support and education to the patient and their family.
Requirements
- BSN required
- Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years from date of hire can be considered with relevant experience
- Registered Nurse with 2 years of experience; telemetry experience a plus
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred. Must commitment to obtaining ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Progressive Care or Gerontology Certification preferred
