Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at UTHealth Houston. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of our laboratory, processing and preparing patient tissue for interpretation by a pathologist.

• Perform tissue processing, embedding in paraffin, cutting, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides for interpretation by a pathologist.
• Clean and maintain work area and equipment, as well as maintain equipment maintenance logs.
• Help maintain gross tissue storage area and assist in discarding tissue per established policy.
• Assist with quality control standards in the laboratory.
• Help maintain blocks and/or slides files.
• Respond to emergency situations.

• American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Certification must be obtained within one year of employment.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• No minimum experience required.
