About this Position

As a skilled technician with Carrier, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction, embodying the trust we represent while enhancing their comfort. Your expertise in Commercial HVAC will be essential for a range of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks. Opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively will showcase your ability to make informed decisions on the job. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about their craft and eager to elevate their skills.

Carrier values its partnerships with Union workers and is committed to compensating for all travel time incurred. Additionally, we offer an on-call schedule designed to promote a better work-life balance, with rotations occurring every 7-8 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues and providing solutions
  • Conducting routine maintenance on heating and cooling systems
  • Installing, replacing, or repairing equipment, including calibrating thermostatic controls and addressing worn HVAC components
  • Assembling and installing metal ductwork
  • Assisting in the planning and design of new heating and air-conditioning installations
  • Estimating required materials for projects
  • Repairing and replacing damaged equipment
  • Interpreting blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding and applying City, State, and EPA regulations
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and their representatives
  • Safely operating company vehicles and equipment
  • Identifying safety risks in HVAC operations and implementing controls to ensure a safe work environment
  • Recognizing situations that require escalation to a Supervisor or Manager for further guidance
  • Rigging and setting up equipment safely for lifting and maintenance tasks
  • Participating in all mandatory safety training and maintaining required licensing.

Required Qualifications:

As a skilled technician, you recognize the importance of delivering expert service. We seek candidates who possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in the HVAC industry
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Capability to stand, crawl, sit, and squat for extended periods
  • Current Union membership or willingness to join
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant handling certification

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional experience and qualities that would be advantageous in this role include:

  • Basic knowledge of building automation controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Salesforce and ServiceMax is a plus
  • NJ Journeyman License and union approval through examination
