Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Intern to assist in the fabrication of electrical enclosures at Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures. This internship will provide hands-on experience in welding, assembly, and fabrication within a real-world production environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with MIG and TIG welding of electrical enclosure components.
  • Perform basic metal fabrication tasks such as cutting, grinding, and fitting.
  • Work with a variety of metals including stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure high-quality assembly of products.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist with quality control checks on finished products.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a welding or metal fabrication program.
  • Basic understanding of welding techniques, including MIG and TIG welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or willingness to learn.

Work Environment

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking 8-10 hours depending on the task. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently. The use of approved Safety Glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots are required. Gloves may be required depending on certain tasks assigned.
