Position : Groundworker

Reports to : Crew Leader/General Foreperson

Key Responsibilities :

• Operates a chainsaw to clear brush, logs, and stumps from larger trees, utilizing gasoline-powered equipment from ground level.
• Handles loading and unloading of trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, as well as feeding brush into a wood chipper. Collects brush and transports it to the chipper area.
• Works in proximity to hazardous machinery.
• Endures high noise levels from machinery, chainsaws, and wood chippers, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Faces various weather conditions and natural elements, including irritating plants, insects, and dust.
• May navigate uneven and rough terrain.
• Assists in enforcing safety protocols for crew members on-site.
• Ensures the safety of employees and the public by managing hazards in the work area, collaborating with local authorities when necessary. Sets up barriers, warning signs, and flags to safeguard all individuals involved.
• Applies herbicides and growth regulators to stumps and brush as required.
• Operates a truck equipped with a brush chipper or other related trailers.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Prepares and arranges tools and equipment at the job site.
• Conducts maintenance on trucks, chippers, and equipment, ensuring they are kept in proper working order and reporting any maintenance needs to the crew leader.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or necessary.

Required Qualifications :

• Must be capable of wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding written and verbal instructions.
• Effective communication skills to represent Wright Tree Service professionally.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
• Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, and be available for call-out work.
• Competent in operating and maintaining all necessary tools and equipment.
• Valid driver's license required, with the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must maintain a herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as mandated by Wright Tree Service and applicable laws.
• Current First-Aid and CPR certifications are necessary.
