Job Overview
The Manager of Environmental Services will lead, guide, and oversee all facets of the Environmental Services (EVS) operational framework essential for ensuring a secure environment for patients and staff. This role emphasizes the principles of sanitation, disinfection, and quality control aimed at minimizing harmful pathogens.
Reporting to the Director of Hospitality Services, the Manager is accountable for optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the environmental and linen departments by managing labor and supply chain expenditures, onboarding all staff on infection control and safety protocols, and ensuring adherence to infection prevention through systematic audits.
This position will deliver services aligned with the mission and values of Memorial Hospital and Health Care, catering to all clients irrespective of age, gender, or nationality.
Qualifications
Education:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include relevant management or supervisory training along with proficiency in computer applications.
Experience:
A minimum of two years in a management role is essential, with a preference for experience in Environmental Services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, clients, and staff in a professional manner.
Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and fosters a workplace culture that encourages positivity, creativity, and teamwork within the EVS team.
Capable of interpreting documents such as safety regulations, operational and maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals while effectively communicating with staff. Proficient in Windows applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The ability to collaborate with the Director of Hospitality to establish performance metrics for monitoring operations and improvement initiatives is essential. Strong time management skills are required to meet deadlines.
Performance Expectations
Responsibilities:
Accountable for the recruitment, training, promotion, discipline, and termination of staff within the Environmental and Linen Services team. Establishes expertise in environmental and linen services. Capable of coordinating schedules across all hospital departments and affiliated clinics.
Oversees the development and maintenance of quality and productivity standards for the department and guides staff in adhering to policies, procedures, and performance standards for infection prevention.
Physical and Special Requirements:
This role necessitates standing and walking for the majority of the day.
Additional physical demands include bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to push or pull 150 pounds. Demonstrates personal accountability and the ability to work independently during assigned shifts, whether day, evening, or night.Occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, biohazard waste, airborne particles, odors, equipment noise, outdoor weather conditions, and the necessity for personal protective equipment beyond gloves may be required throughout the day.
