Telecom Electronic Technician II

BNSF Railway is seeking a highly skilled Telecom Electronic Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our telecommunications department, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all telecommunications equipment, including radios, digital microwave systems, and radio frequency data link equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Install, assemble, repair, adjust, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including wired and wireless systems, microwave systems, and radio frequency communications systems.
- Troubleshoot to component level and work with IT help desk to resolve trouble tickets and work orders for internal and external customers.
- Record repairs in Repair Tracking System via computer and provide log history of Train Control System as needed.
- Configure and use various types of test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal generators, and communications service monitors, to troubleshoot and repair telecommunications devices.
- Read and interpret electronic circuit schematics for circuit board and component level troubleshooting of telecommunications devices.
- Perform inspection, calibration, alignment, and modification of circuits and telecommunications devices.
- Configure devices using various platforms and communication protocols, including Windows, Linux, IP, RS232, and USB.
- Advanced soldering skills, including through-hole and surface mount devices.
- At least 18 years of age, or will be by the anticipated start date.
- Able to report for duty at the designated work location.
- Able to work safely in extreme all-weather conditions, walk and perform work on uneven surfaces, and work in a safety-sensitive work environment.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and visually distinguish colors, including red, blue, green, and yellow.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license and experience doing soldering work.
- Able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
- 2 years minimum of verifiable electronics experience or post-high school training, including an Associate's Degree in Electronics or a Vocational Certificate in Electronics Technology.
- Able to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
- Able to climb on/off equipment, bend, walk, stand, and sit occasionally with breaks.
- Follow safety policies and procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot electronics circuits to the circuit board and component level and pass Electronic Technician II Qualification Test with a score of greater than 80%.
