Job Title: Water Quality Specialist

Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Water Quality Specialist to join our team in Silver Spring, MD. As a Water Quality Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the production and distribution of safe water for the public while meeting regulations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support customer complaints handling and coordinate customer sampling logistics.
  • Conduct support with special studies, full, pilot, and bench scale tests for the purpose of solving or evaluating water quality problems.
  • Maintain and operate field analytical equipment, conduct routine services, and minor repair to maintain all monitoring equipment in good operational condition.
  • Maintain and operate on-line water quality monitoring systems for contaminant detection.
Requirements:
  • Ability to interact with customers regarding water quality complaints in an effective and professional manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of drinking water treatment processes, water distribution system, water quality monitoring, and emergency response.
  • Ability to interpret water quality data and identify anomalies.
  • Knowledge of proper laboratory procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Knowledge of environmental Standard Operating Procedures, EPA Approved Methods, and Standard Methods procedures.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets, Safety Manual, and all emergency procedures.
  • Ability to appropriately use and maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Skill in the use of laboratory computer programs.
  • Skill in the use of spreadsheet and database tools to perform computational work.
  • Skill in operation of analytical instrumentation including routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive analytical reports.
  • Ability to accurately perform chemical, bacteriological, or biological tests.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science/engineering, chemistry, biology, or related scientific fields.
  • Experience in the areas of drinking water monitoring and customer correspondence related to water supply and treatment/distribution system operation, and environmental laboratory analyses experience performing wet chemistry and microbiology testing.
